Polar Bear Behavior

The behavior of polar bears is often unpredictable. Polar bears generally live alone, except breeding season. They are most active at night, are excellent swimmers and have a strong sense of smell. Each polar bear has its own home range, in which it travels throughout the year.

Polar bears primarily eat seals. They also eat walruses and other marine mammals. Polar bears obtain almost all of their food from the ocean. They don't drink water. When not hunting, polar bears are often sleeping or resting.
